Dog NGAL ELISA Kit (KIT 043)
BioPorto Diagnostics is happy to announce the launch of an ELISA kit for the detection of NGAL (neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin, lipocalin 2, siderocalin) in dogs.
The Dog NGAL ELISA Kit (KIT 043) can be used to measure NGAL in urine, plasma, serum, tissue extracts or culture media. The kit is offered for research use only.
NGAL is the earliest responding biomarker for acute kidney injury (AKI) in humans and has also shown promise in rodent models. Dogs provide additional information in the study of kidney function, surgical procedures and treatment in relation to human disease, and canine studies continue to be important in drug development.
Dog NGAL measurements can potentially be used to determine efficacy in the development of new treatments for kidney damage, in safety studies to detect nephrotoxic side effects and for basic science research on kidney injury and kidney diseases.
The NGAL Test
BioPorto Diagnostics has successfully developed The NGAL Test for the diagnosis of acute kidney injury. The NGAL test is designed for routine diagnostic use on a wide range of automated clinical chemistry analyzers that are already running in laboratories and hospitals all over the world.
Like the majority of other high volume routine biomarkers the new NGAL test from BioPorto is based on the principle of turbidimetry, recognized to combine high diagnostic performance with fast turnaround time and therefore implicitly addressing the acute aspect of NGAL evaluation.

The APC-PCI (Activated Protein C - Protein C Inhibitor) complex is formed in blood circulation upon activation of protein C. APC is then inactivated by PCI forming an inhibition complex known as the APC-PCI complex.
The APC-PCI ELISA Kit (KIT 040) is intended for the measurement of the Activated Protein C - Protein C Inhibitor complex in human plasma. It is for research use only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures.
Further expansion of our GLP-1 portfolio
The new antibody ABS 046-03 recognizes the C-terminus of non-amidated (-Arg-Gly) GLP-1 (GLP-1(1-37), GLP-1(7-37) and GLP-1(9-37)) and shows a low level of cross-reactivity with C-terminally amidated GLP-1 (GLP-1(1-36)amide, GLP-1(7-36)amide and GLP-1(9-36)amide).
Two different sandwich setups can be made using different combinations of ABS 046-03, HYB 147-12 and ABS 033-10.
Human NGAL ELISA Kit for IVD
NGAL is a small protein found not only in neutrophils but also in certain epithelia, such as renal tubules, where its expression is dramatically increased in ischemic or nephrotoxic injury. NGAL levels rise in urine and blood within 2 hours of renal injury.
Studies by BioPorto Diagnostics have shown that urinary levels above a cutoff of 350 ng/mL or plasma levels above 400 ng/mL are associated with acute kidney inkury with a 90% positive predictive value.This makes NGAL the earliest, most sensitive and non-invasive biomarker for acute kidney injury available.
