L- and M-Ficolin antibodies launched

October 22 2007  by Lisbeth Kobberup Milling

L- and M-Ficolin are for sale in the area of innate immunity.

ABS 005-16 and ABS 005-19 reacts with L-Ficolin (Ficolin-2), an innate immunity pattern recognition molecule found in human serum. L-Ficolin binds to distinct pathogen-associated molecular patterns (PAMP), such as carbohydrates (GlcNAc), lipoteichoic acid and acetylated groups thereby facilitating phagocytosis and activation of complement through the lectin route using the same serine proteases as mannose-binding lectin (MBL) named MASP ((MBL)-associated serine protease) (1).

ABS 036-01 and ABS 036-05 reacts with M-Ficolin (Ficolin-1), a non-serum protein that is expressed in leukocytes and lung. M-Ficolin precipitates with mannose-binding lectin (MBL)-associated serine proteases (MASP)-1 and MASP-2, indicating that M-Ficolin forms complexes with MASP-1 and MASP-2, recognizes certain types of bacteria and subsequently activates the lectin pathway (1).
